Kent's Kids - September 26, 2010
Sometimes life is just monumentally unfair. There's just no way around it. And I guess the earlier one learns this lesson, the less unpleasantly surprised one will be. But sometimes knowing of the world's unfairness does not mitigate the pain of that unfairness in the slightest.
Grandpa Kent, who recently came out to see us, has been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS. In fact, this diagnoses came shortly after he returned home from the trip out here.
So in an effort to do something about this, Aunt Alicia organized a group of us for the annual ALS Walk. Our group name: Kent's Kids.
The walk was held at Isotopes Park this year. It was heartening to see how many people showed up to support the cause.
We even got to meet Orbit! I asked the person inside the suit if it was hot in there. They made a motion of "not too bad."
Maybe some day no little boy will have to worry about losing a grandfather to ALS.
