A Budding Novelist - September 25, 2010

We read an awful lot of books in our house. Lots and lots and lots. I'm keeping track of them and when we get to a certain number, I'm going to throw a little party. But that's a story for another day. Today I came across the first story that Asher wrote (dictated to me). He actually wrote it back in July, but I've only gotten to putting it up on the site right now. It is entitled:

You Are My Sweet Eating Berry

by Asher Dixon

Once upon a time, there was an kangaroo that ran into a bear. The bear said, "I am a hungry bear. I’m looking for a yummy cat to eat."

And the kangaroo said, "I don’t have any cats. I would like a bear to eat."

Then the bear said, "I would like you to eat!"

Two people (in houses) said, "Please don’t eat our kangaroo. We love our kangaroo."

So the bear said, "I will eat you two people (in houses)."

The people said, "We will shoot you with water balls. Right in the eye."

The bear said, "I will eat your water balls and you will never get to shoot them. And then I’ll eat your kangaroo!"

One big dinosaur came stomping down the street and ate the bear up.

And the kangaroo ate the dinosuar up.

THE END

Oh what pathos! What deep insight into the human condition! Could Dantes or even Shakespeare have said it better? Ha! I think not. Especially the part about the water balls.
