Two Is the Bee's Knees - October 3, 2010

When Dexter turned 2 this year (Oct.1) I was vying for the president of The Bad Mother's Club and wasn't going to have a party for him. Things had been busy for all the family, so I figured no one would really care whether we commemorated Dex's second full orbit around the sun. But my dear Aunt Jill (who should be nominated for the president of The Best Aunt Club) declared that she would have a party for him at her house.

She made the lunch and I brought some cake and presents so the party was on! It was a small gathering - just Papa Bruce, Shima, and us. But still, a good time was had by all. Especially cake time.

Because Dex can't really verbalize his cake desires this year, I went ahead and just made him whatever came to mind. In this case, Boston Cream Pie. I'd never made it before, but in theory it sounded divine. Dex blew out the candles and made his little boy wish.

I'd say it was a hit.

Next, time for presents! Papa Bruce's present has a riddle on it: When is a hug not a bear hug?

When it's a koala bear hug! We named him Blinky Bill.

Next present - a T-ball set! Honestly, who in their right mind would give a bat (foam or otherwise) to a two year old? Oh yeah. That'd be me.

A small boy full of cake, a red ball, and a yellow bat for him to hit it with. Maybe I'm only qualified to be the Vice President of The Bad Mother's Club.
