Glowing, Glowing, Glowing - October 9, 2010
What time is it, boys and girls? Balloon Fiesta time! And what are we going to do about it? Glow, glow, glow!
Yep, we're going to the balloon glow. I haven't been to a balloon glow since I was a teenager and I don't think either of the boys have ever been. So we start this new and exciting adventure at the shuttle at the mall. Papa Bruce joins us... and brings a long a surprise guest. (And no, the guest isn't Dexter! I'll reveal the guest's identity a bit later.)
Asher and I are seat buddies on the bus on the way to the balloon field. For skipping traffic and parking annoyances, there isn't anything like taking the shuttle!
By the time we get there, many balloons are already up and many more are being inflated. For those not familiar with a Balloon Glow, the balloons don't actually lift off. They just inflate and stay on the ground until it gets dark. When it's dark enough... well, just wait and see!
Asher tries to be patient for it to be dark enough.
As do Dex and Dad.
As for our guest - it's Daniel! Our cousin from Texas come out to play with us! Yay! We love Daniel!
And he bides his time with a tasty snack.
When the time is right, all the balloon pilots set off their burners, which causes their balloons to light up. It's really an impressive sight to see a whole field of balloons flickering on and off. I definitely recommend you go to a Balloon Glow if you ever get the chance.
We leave before it gets too late and also because Dex gets a bit freaked out by all the noise. A bunch of burners going off all at once does make quite a racket and can frighten little boys. Dad carries Dex safely on his shoulders back to the shuttle pick-up. Dex is happy for the lift, and the understanding dad.
