Fabulous Fourth! - July 4, 2010

My favorite holiday is upon us again! I love the 4th of July. I love the pie. I love the fireworks. I love the warm weather. I love it all. This year, we were cordially invited to the Edenburn's house (down in Peralta where there are no restrictions on fireworks!) to celebrate.

It all started with a fantastic potluck picnic. Dex is on the lookout for whatever lookes tasty!

 

While wating for the burgers and brats to cook, Asher and Linda Allen come across something interesting in the grass.

 

It's an old wasps' mud nest. Fascinating to little boys, if a little creepy and gross to moms.

Mrs. Allen explains to a growing audience how the wasps would get in and out of their home.

Dex spends most of the time playing on the swing set in the backyard. He had a great time until it got dark and then everyone gathered to watch the fireworks. He did not enjoy them in the slightest, so we headed back to Papa Bruce's house for the night.

 

Because it's no fun to see this little face scared!
