Gator Pie - May 3, 2010

As with the waning and waxing of the moon and the rising and falling of the tides, so doth time march on. And on. And on and on. So it came to pass that Papa Bruce had another birthday come around. As a certified "birthday grump" he didn't want a party or anything, but I was able to persuade him otherwise with the promise of... Gator Pie.

A few days after the actual date (April 30) we gathered to celebrate. It was a small affair, just us, Shima, Papa Bruce, and Aunt Jill.

What exactly is Gator Pie, you wonder. Well, that's a secret. I can't tell you. All I can say is that it was spawned from a children's book of the same name. It goes like this:

Two alligators find a pie in the swamp and are going to eat it all themselves (even steven) when more alligators start showing up, demanding an equal share. Soon more and more alligators arrive, demanding pie, so the piece of pie each alligator will receive gets smaller and smaller. A great fight breaks out about what kind of pie it is because they can only see the whipped cream topping. In the end, the two alligators who originally found the pie manage to abscond with it and eat it all by themselves. And! What kind of pie it is, is revealed. But, I'm not going to give it away! If you wanna know what's in Gator Pie, ask someone who's eaten some. Maybe they'll tell you.

Lucky for Papa he had some help blowing out all those candles!
