From the Beginning

Asher James Dixon was born on a bright morning on March 25, 2006. It was with great joy and anticipation we welcomed this new little life into our family. About two years has passed since that day and Asher has grown from baby to toddler. This website (and corresponding archives) are a record, both visual and textual, of his journey thus far.

I Dub Thee...

Asher's name was taken from the Bible - one of the twelve tribes of Israel. It means happy or blessed. Some biblical references to Asher:

Leah's servant Zilpah bore Jacob a second son. Then Leah said, "How happy I am! The women will call me happy." So she named him Asher.
~ Genesis 30:12

All these were descendants of Asher — heads of families, choice men, brave warriors and outstanding leaders.

~ 1 Chronicles 7:40
(Editor's note: When Asher's brothers and their descendants were listed in Chronicles, none were called out as choice men or outstanding leaders.)
Jacob's blessing to Asher

Asher's food will be rich; he will provide delicacies for a king.
~ Genesis 49:20
Moses' blessing to the tribe of Asher

About Asher he said:
"Most blessed of sons is Asher; let him be favored by his brothers, and let him bathe his feet in oil. The bolts of your gates will be iron and bronze, and your strength will equal your days.
~ Deuteronomy 33:24-25

These are a few of his favorite things...

Asher loves trucks and construction equipment, big or small. He loves being outside, especially when there's some dirt to play in. Also high on his list of things to do is going to the park, taking a bath, playing with grandparents, and watching Jeopardy. (Okay, that last one's not entirely true...) He likes reading books and playing with blocks when going outside isn't an option. He plays the piano and sings with great enthusiasm, making up both music and lyrics. He's busy and curious and never lets mom get bored. Ever.
