Of All the Trees Most Lovely - December 7, 2008
I called to the boys: Asher! Dexter! The time had come to embark upon a mission of grave and great importance. We needed decisive leadership. We needed eagle-eye spotting skills. We needed hot chocolate!
It was time... to go Christmas tree shopping! Asher grabbed his trusty side-kick, Papa Bruce, and we headed out to find (cue angel voices singing in rapture) THE PERFECT TREE!
Upon arriving at our local Lowe's we were bombarded with a myraid of choices. Did we want Douglas Fir? Or maybe Noble Fir? Was 6 - 7 feet tall enough? Was 8 - 9 feet too tall? Oh the choices! We almost gave up in despair, but junior member Dexter encouraged us to press on with his dazzling smile and the promise of THE PERFECT TREE.
We narrowed our search to a Douglas Fir in the 6 to 7 foot range. Whew! Having too many options can be paralyzing sometimes. But now that we had a description of our quarry in hand, the hunt was on! It wasn't long before Asher and Papa Bruce spotted a promising catch.
Deliberation was swift and decisive. This was indeed THE ONE! Bag that sucker, Dad! And that's exactly what he did.
