Boy Magnet - June 18, 2010

It's funny how we pine all winter long for the warm days of summer and when they get here, we just can't wait to find a way to beat the heat! Well, give me summer any day, for one of the best ways to cool off is to have a picnic up in the mountains. So it was off to La Cienga picnic area we went.

We arrived, quickly scarfed down some dinner, and the boys went off to explore. Dex returned shortly to inform me of a magical place he had found. Take note of his clothes - they indicate that he has already "dived in."

 

The magical place is the little stream running through the picnic area. It acts as a very powerful magnet, drawing all little boys near to play in it.

 

When it became too chilly play in the stream anymore, Asher took to the trees and discovered another little boy magnet: bugs!

 

When bugs became passe, it was tree climbing time. And even Dex wanted to get in on that action.

After we had splashed in the stream, explored the world of bugs, and clambered through the trees, there was only one thing left to do before going home. We needed just a bit of snuggle time with Papa.

And that is how we beat the heat this summer.
