4th of July!!!

Happy Independence Day Asher,

For the 4th of July this year, we went to Uncle Wayne's and Aunt Michele's on Sunday the second for a BBQ.  Uncle Wayne's mom and step dad were there, so that's why we celebrated just a bit early.

Fourth of July is all about celebrating our country's indepence from the British.  It's really quite a long story involving taxes and tea and one if by land, two if by sea.  We'll get into it in more detail once you're a little older.  All quite fascinating, I can assure you.

Anyway, here you are celebrating your indepence from mommy in Aunt LiLi's lap!

Cousin Jonethan was one of the few people at the party that got down to your level to play with you.  I think he must be one of your favorite people.

On the actual 4th of July we went down to the Edenburns (which is just down the ditch from Papa Bruce's house) to shoot off some fireworks.  You see, Valencia County isn't as stringent about fireworks as Bernalillo County. Another long story which we will get into when you are older.

Mr. Edenburn barbequed some hamburgers. Very yummy.  One day daddy will show you how to "perpare the coals" for BBQ.
The Edenburns have a Golden Retriever named Eli.  He spent most of the time out in the field.  He just tends to get a little excited when lots of people are around.
You really liked being outside and just enjoying all the new people, sights, and sounds. You and Mr. E are good buds.  He introduced you to Eli, making sure Eli didn't get too excited to meet you!
You didn't seem all that impressed by the fireworks.  You feel asleep about a quarter of the way through them and then didn't wake up until we got you home.

Someday you too will play with fire and risk loosing an eye, all to celebrate our country's birth and independence.  And what better way to celebrate, I ask you?

Love Much,
Mom
